Our Mission
Students Speak Freely empowers students, families, educators, and communities to better understand First Amendment rights and engage thoughtfully in civic discourse through educational resources, case analysis, articles, and interviews exploring free expression in K–12 schools.
We believe that knowledge is the foundation of civic engagement. By making student speech rights more accessible and understandable, we seek to help young people develop the confidence to participate in meaningful discussions, express their views responsibly, and better understand the constitutional principles that shape our democracy.
Students Speak Freely is committed to education, awareness, and informed dialogue. We do not provide legal advice. Instead, we provide educational resources that help individuals better understand the history, principles, and ongoing development of student free speech rights in the United States.
Our Vision
We envision a future in which every student understands the value of free expression, recognizes both the rights and responsibilities that accompany it, and feels empowered to participate thoughtfully in civic life.
We believe that informed students become engaged citizens. By fostering understanding of the First Amendment and encouraging respectful dialogue, we hope to inspire a generation that values diverse perspectives, critical thinking, and active participation in their communities.

Our Core Principles
Education
We believe that constitutional principles should be accessible and understandable to everyone, especially students.
Empowerment
Students who understand their rights are better equipped to engage confidently and responsibly in civic life.
Respectful Dialogue
Free expression flourishes when individuals can share ideas, listen to others, and engage respectfully with differing viewpoints.
Civic Engagement
An informed and engaged citizenry is essential to a healthy democracy. Understanding First Amendment rights is an important step toward meaningful participation.
Student Voice
Students have perspectives worth sharing. We believe young people should be encouraged to participate in conversations that affect their schools, communities, and future.
